Local Browser Processing
Your files are processed locally in your browser whenever possible. They never leave your device.
No Document Viewing
Because files are handled in browser memory, PDFAtlas staff or systems cannot inspect your content.
1. Document Processing & Storage
PDFAtlas was engineered from the ground up to prioritize user confidentiality. Core PDF operations (such as Merge, Split, Compress, Rotate, Reorder, Delete Pages, Image Conversion, Numbering, and Annotation) execute exclusively on your local machine using client-side JavaScript and WebAssembly libraries.
Your documents are never uploaded to, transmitted through, or stored on our servers during standard operations.
2. Temporary Browser Memory & Cleanup
When you select a file, it is read into temporary browser memory (RAM) allocated to your specific browser tab. When you close the tab, refresh the page, or click "Start Over", all memory objects and temporary object URLs are automatically revoked and purged.
3. Analytics & Telemetry
To monitor application reliability and performance, we may collect anonymous aggregate event data (e.g., "Merge PDF tool opened" or "File size 4.2 MB processed").
We never log or capture document titles, file contents, text strings, images, or personally identifiable data in analytics.
4. Future AI Capabilities & Transparency
If a future optional AI feature (such as conversational document querying) requires server-side model processing, this requirement will be explicitly and transparently communicated to the user before processing. Document data transmitted to AI engines will be processed ephemerally with zero data retention and will never be used for AI model training.
5. Cookies & Local Storage
PDFAtlas does not use intrusive third-party tracking cookies or advertising pixels. Minimal browser local storage may be used solely to save your local UI preferences.
